Synopsis:
Lovesick and desperate, sculptor Brindsley Miller has embellished his apartment with furniture and object d’arte “borrowed” from the absent antique collector next door, hoping to impress his fiancee’s pompous father and a wealthy art dealer. The fussy neighbor, Harold Gorringe, returns just as a blown fuse plunges the apartment into darkness and Brindsley is revealed. Unexpected guesses, aging spinsters, errant phone cords, and other snares impede his frantic attempts to return the purloined items before light is restored.

Seamus Heaney's translation of Sophocles' Antigone is titled "The Burial at Thebes: A Version of Sophocles' Antigone". This translation was commissioned for the centenary of the Abbey Theatre in Dublin. It is a verse translation that aims to capture the tragedy's themes and characters in a modern, accessible way.
Heaney's version, "The Burial at Thebes," is known for its strong, direct language and its exploration of Antigone's conflict between individual conscience and the demands of the state. Heaney's translation focuses on the core human drama of the play, highlighting the tragic consequences of conflicting loyalties and the power of individual defiance.

Now is the time to seize the day. High paced and energized production is based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this Disney musical tells the story of Jack Kelly, a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys' expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action.

We are looking for an enormous cast that wish to share their summer with us to make such an event happen. This is an ensemble paradise dream, and the success is based on the strength of a group. Membership Announcement:
-
Atlanta Dramatists are seeking paid members. What does this entail?
-
$20 membership fee for the entire year.
-
Dues-paying members will receive discounts (and sometimes even free admission) to all of our workshops and readings for the year.
-
Only dues-paying members will be eligible to have their scripts read in our First Sundays reading series, our Fourth Monday reading series, and our Fully-Rehearsed Play Reading series. Please note that if you have already submitted a script and have received confirmation with a reading date, then you will be grandfathered in for that reading, but if you wish to submit future scripts (including short excerpts), you will need to become a dues-paying member.
-
These fees will allow us to begin paying our actors who participate in these events a small stipend, as well as allow us to file necessary paperwork, hire directors and dramaturgs for fully-rehearsed readings, pay the venues (including Academy Theatre), and meet other necessary financial goals.
-
$20 membership fee may be paid through: Donations – Atlanta Dramatists. Just please clarify in the comments that this is for a membership, not a donation.
-
Audience members are welcome to attend our cold readings for free on Zoom or live, though a small fee may be requested for attendees of our fully rehearsed readings, workshops, and potential full productions. Dues-paying members will always receive a discount (and possibly even free admission) to any of our events that require an admission fee. The discount amount may vary based on the scope of the event.
